Das Museum ist in Europa das gr\u00f6\u00dfte Walmuseum und wurde in 2015 zum esten Mal ge\u00f6ffnet. Zu finden ist das Museum in der N\u00e4he des Hafens in Reykjav\u00edk und kann daher einfach vor oder nach einer Walbeobachtungstour besucht werden. Ich besuchte Whales of Iceland in einem Sommer. Mir hat das Museum sehr gut gefallen. Zwergwale. Oder Finnwale. Die Gew\u00e4sser um Island sind wichtige Lebensr\u00e4ume f\u00fcr viele Walarten. Auch f\u00fcr Delfine wie Orcas oder Wei\u00dfschnauzendelfine und Schweinswale wie Gew\u00f6hnliche Schweinswale.<\/p>\n<p>Laut der Isl\u00e4ndischen Walbeobachtungsvereinigung (Englisch: Icelandic Whale Watching Association) leben um Island mehr als 20 verschiedene Walarten. Allerdings sind \u201enur\u201c etwa 8 Arten regelm\u00e4\u00dfig auf Walbeobachtungsausfahrten zu sehen.<\/p>\n<p>Apropos Walbeobachtung. Falls ja, schau auf ihrer Webseite. Dort finden sich mehr Informationen zu den Walen, die in den Gew\u00e4ssern um Island leben. Unter anderem finden sich dort auch Tourenanbieter f\u00fcr Walbeobachtungsausfahrten und eine Liste walfreundlicher Restaurants.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><div id=\"pg-26300-5\"  class=\"panel-grid panel-no-style\" ><div id=\"pgc-26300-5-0\"  class=\"panel-grid-cell\" ><div id=\"panel-26300-5-0-0\" class=\"so-panel widget widget_sow-editor panel-first-child panel-last-child\" data-index=\"5\" ><div\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\tclass=\"so-widget-sow-editor so-widget-sow-editor-base\"\n\t\t\t\n\t\t>\n<div class=\"siteorigin-widget-tinymce textwidget\">\n\t<p>Reykjav\u00edk ist aber auch ein interessanter Ort, <a href=\"https:\/\/wildlife-travel.com\/de\/wale-beobachten-in-reykjavik-island\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Wale zu beobachten<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In Island nahm ich auf mehreren Walbeobachtungstouren teil. Insgesamt waren es drei. Zwei in H\u00fasav\u00edk und eine in Reykjav\u00edk. Auf allen Touren sah ich Wale und Delfine. Zusammen sah ich zwei verschiedene Walarten, aber nur eine Delfinart. Auf einer Walbeobachtungsausfahrt tauchten sogar Gew\u00f6hnliche Schweinswale auf. Allerdings sah ich sie nicht. So schnell sie auftauchten, waren sie auch wieder verschwunden.<\/p>\n<p>Ich lernte das Verhalten der Gew\u00f6hnlichen Schweinswale schon auf einer Tour kennen. Und zwar in <a href=\"https:\/\/wildlife-travel.com\/de\/gewohnliche-schweinswale-in-der-flensburger-forde\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Flensburg<\/a> \u2013 im Norden Deutschlands. Diese Schweinswale sind tats\u00e4chlich sehr, sehr scheu.<\/p>\n<p>Obwohl mein Beobachtungserfolg jetzt nicht so gro\u00df erscheint - verglichen mit den mehr als 20 Arten, die in den Gew\u00e4ssern um Island leben - sah ich dennoch tats\u00e4chlich zwei Arten, die ich zuvor noch nicht gesehen hatte. Es gibt noch eine weitere Zwergwalart in der s\u00fcdlichen Hemisph\u00e4re. Wahrscheinlich gibt es au\u00dferdem noch zwei oder drei Unterarten an N\u00f6rdlichen Zwergwalen und sogar eine \u201eZwergform\u201c auf der S\u00fcdhalbkugel. Ich sah sie schon nicht <a href=\"https:\/\/wildlife-travel.com\/de\/walbeobachtung-auf-den-azoren-insel-pico\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">auf den Azoren<\/a>. Ich hoffe sehr, dass ich Finnwale das n\u00e4chste Mal sehe, wenn ich wieder in Island bin.<\/p>\n<p>Ich w\u00fcnsche mir auch, irgendwann in Island auf Orcas zu treffen. Ich habe geh\u00f6rt, dass es gute Chancen gibt, diese Tiere auch im Winter zu sehen (wenn das Wetter mitspielt?).<\/p>\n<p>Nichtsdestotrotz, um Wale in Island zu beobachten, muss man sich f\u00fcr einen Tourenanbieter entscheiden.<\/p>\n<p>In <a href=\"https:\/\/wildlife-travel.com\/de\/wale-beobachten-in-husavik-island\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">H\u00fasav\u00edk<\/a> entschied ich mich f\u00fcr North Sailing und in <a href=\"https:\/\/wildlife-travel.com\/de\/wale-beobachten-in-reykjavik-island\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Reykjav\u00edk<\/a> f\u00fcr Elding. Bitte lies mehr \u00fcber meine Erfahrungen mit diesen Unternehmen in meinen anderen Blogbeitr\u00e4gen.<\/p>\n<p>Die Walart, die ich in Island auf jeder Walbeobachtungstour sah, war der Buckelwal. Ein Buckelwal bis zu 19 Meter. Und ein Blauwal sogar bis zu 33 Meter.<\/p>\n<p>Stell dir einmal vor neben einem Blauwal zu stehen. Wie w\u00fcrdest du dich f\u00fchlen?<\/p>\n<p>Also ich f\u00fchlte mich sehr klein.<\/p>\n<p>Nein, sogar sehr, sehr klein.<\/p>\n<p>Aber nat\u00fcrlich. Ich stand neben keinem echten Blauwal. Aber daf\u00fcr neben einem Blauwalmodell in Lebensgr\u00f6\u00dfe. Auch im Walmuseum hatte der Blauwal f\u00fcr mich eine besondere Stellung aufgrund seiner Gr\u00f6\u00dfe. Der Blauwal ist das gr\u00f6\u00dfte und schwerste S\u00e4ugetier, das jemals gelebt hat - obwohl er sich fast ausschlie\u00dflich von winzig kleinem Zooplankton, und zwar Krebstieren, ern\u00e4hrt.<\/p>\n<p>Man sollte sich im Walmuseum gen\u00fcgend Zeit nehmen und die Gr\u00f6\u00dfe der Walmodelle wahrnehmen und sp\u00fcren!<\/p>\n<p>In Island kann man Blauwale angeblich am h\u00e4ufigsten in den nord\u00f6stlichen Gew\u00e4ssern beobachten. Leider sah ich in Island keinen Blauwal. Man braucht einfach Gl\u00fcck und muss nat\u00fcrlich zum richtigen Zeitpunkt am richtigen Ort sein.<\/p>\n<p>Allerdings muss ich hier zugeben, dass ich im Jahr meiner Islandreise nicht ganz ohne Gl\u00fcck war... Aber es war trotzdem eine unvergessliche Erfahrung f\u00fcr mich, in der N\u00e4he des gr\u00f6\u00dften Tieres auf unserer Erde zu sein!<\/p>\n<p>Im Walmuseum sieht man dagegen die gesamte Gr\u00f6\u00dfe eines Blauwalk\u00f6rpers. Die Nordkaper im Nordpazifik sind dagegen \u201enur\u201c \u201e<a href=\"https:\/\/www.iucnredlist.org\/species\/41711\/50380694\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">stark gef\u00e4hrdet<\/a>\u201c. Ihre Gesamtpopulation scheint jedoch nicht bekannt zu sein. Die S\u00fcdkaper werden dagegen in der Kategorie \u201e<a href=\"https:\/\/www.iucnredlist.org\/species\/8153\/50354147\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">nicht gef\u00e4hrdet<\/a>\u201c gef\u00fchrt. Ich habe noch nie einen echten Gr\u00f6nlandwal in meinem Leben gesehen, aber ich denke, dass es sich bei diesem Tier um eine wirklich interessante Walart handelt. Ich habe diese zwei Walarten noch nie gesehen und Island sollte auch nicht der beste Ort sein, diese zwei Walarten zu suchen. Es kann vorkommen, dass ein einzelner Beluga sich mal nach Island verirrt und die Gew\u00e4sser au\u00dferhalb seines \u00fcblichen Verbreitungsgebiets untersucht. Allerdings ist f\u00fcr eine Sichtung eines Belugas in Island besonders viel Gl\u00fcck notwendig. Sie sind die gr\u00f6\u00dften Delfine in der Familie der <em>Delphinidae<\/em> und k\u00f6nnen einfach an ihrem Schwarz-wei\u00df-Muster bestimmt werden. Es gibt mehrere Orte in Island, wo man Orca beobachten kann. textwidget\">\n\t<p>Diese vier Delfine lassen sich aber eher selten in Island bei einer Walbeobachtungstour beobachten. Aber hin und wieder halten sie sich trotzdem in Isl\u00e4ndischen Gew\u00e4ssern auf.<\/p>\n<p>Der Wei\u00dfseitendelfin bevorzugt tiefe Gew\u00e4sser und wird daher eher selten auf einer Bootstour in der N\u00e4he der isl\u00e4ndischen K\u00fcste gesehen.<\/p>\n<p>Gemeine Delfine und Blau-wei\u00dfe Delfine bevorzugen dagegen eher warm-gem\u00e4\u00dfigte und tropische Gew\u00e4sser. Hin und wieder verirren sich diese Delfine und schwimmen in der N\u00e4he von Island. Daher lassen sich auch diese Delfine eher selten auf Bootstouren beobachten.<\/p>\n<p>W\u00e4hrend ich noch keine Wei\u00dfseitendelfine sehen konnte, bin ich schon Gemeinen Delfinen (Foto) begegnet. Auch die der Wale, die in Island besonders h\u00e4ufig vorkommen wie Buckelwal und Zwergwal.<\/p>\n<p>Es gibt zudem Modelle von Walarten, die weniger bekannt sind, weil auch diese eher selten gesehen werden. Und zwar die der Schnabelwale. Im Vergleich zu den zuvor erw\u00e4hnten, ist Vieles \u00fcber die Schnabelwale noch unbekannt. Ich hatte einen Audioguide bei mir, den ich sehr hilfreich empfand.<\/p>\n<p>Es gibt in einem separaten Extra-Raum eine gro\u00dfe Filmwand wo ich die Doku Sonic Sea sah.
