Mit etwas Gl\u00fcck lassen sich hier sogar Seehunde entdecken. Ob mir das gelungen ist? In diesem Blogbeitrag nehme ich dich mit auf meine Reise dorthin. Nat\u00fcrlich nutzte ich auch die Gelegenheit, durch die charmante Hansestadt Wismar zu schlendern. Als ich dann entdeckte, dass man in der Wismarer Bucht auch Kegelrobben von einem Boot aus erleben kann, war f\u00fcr mich schnell klar: Dorthin m\u00f6chte ich reisen!<\/p>\n<p>Doch wo sollte mein idealer Ausgangspunkt f\u00fcr diese Naturbeobachtungen sein?<\/p>\n<p>Die Entscheidung fiel erstaunlich schnell \u2013 ganz intuitiv w\u00e4hlte ich Wismar. Und nicht nur aus dem Bauch heraus: Die Stadt liegt genau zwischen der Insel Poel und dem Startpunkt der Kegelrobben-Ausfahrten \u2013 ideal also, um beide Ziele bequem mit dem Fahrrad zu erreichen.<\/p>\n<p>Wismar erwies sich ohnehin als perfekter Ausgangspunkt f\u00fcr Radtouren. Zahlreiche gut ausgebaute Radwege f\u00fchren aus der Stadt in alle Richtungen \u2013 eine hervorragende Basis f\u00fcr Erkundungen in der Region.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><div Die Stadt hat mich positiv \u00fcberrascht \u2013 mit ihrer ruhigen, sauberen und charmanten Ausstrahlung. Freundlich ist sie auch. Ganz anders als das hektische Berlin, aus dem ich anreiste (auch wenn Berlin nat\u00fcrlich seine eigenen Vorz\u00fcge hat).<\/p>\n<p>Ich kam an einem stillen Donnerstagnachmittag an \u2013 es war ein Feiertag, also kein gew\u00f6hnlicher Werktag in Wismar. Als ich durch die Stra\u00dfen schlenderte, fragte ich mich: Wo sind all die Menschen?<\/p>\n<p>Zwar begegnete ich vereinzelt Passanten, doch insgesamt wirkten die Stra\u00dfen fast leergefegt.<\/p>\n<p>Aber das st\u00f6rte mich keineswegs \u2013 im Gegenteil. Bunt, liebevoll gestaltet, einladend \u2013 einfach sch\u00f6n.<\/p>\n<p>Ich mag graue, eint\u00f6nige St\u00e4dte nicht besonders. Doch Wismar ist das genaue Gegenteil: lebendig, freundlich, voller Charakter.<\/p>\n<p>Ich konnte mich gar nicht sattsehen an den vielen Details und Rund 43.000 Menschen leben hier (Stand Ende 2024). Au\u00dferdem geh\u00f6rt die Altstadt von Wismar seit 2002 gemeinsam mit der von Stralsund zum UNESCO-Welterbe.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><div id=\"pg-30019-13\"  class=\"panel-grid panel-no-style\" ><div id=\"pgc-30019-13-0\"  class=\"panel-grid-cell\" ><div id=\"panel-30019-13-0-0\" class=\"so-panel widget widget_sow-editor panel-first-child panel-last-child\" data-index=\"15\" ><div\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\tclass=\"so-widget-sow-editor so-widget-sow-editor-base\"\n\t\t\t\n\t\t>\n<div class=\"siteorigin-widget-tinymce textwidget\">\n\t<p>Besonders beeindruckt haben mich die zahlreichen Backsteingeb\u00e4ude, die f\u00fcr norddeutsche St\u00e4dte so typisch sind. Dazu z\u00e4hlt auch die Nikolaikirche, eines der markantesten Bauwerke Wismars.<\/p>\n<p>In unmittelbarer N\u00e4he dieser Kirche befand sich auch meine Unterkunft \u2013 eine Wahl, die sich als sehr g\u00fcnstig erwies. Ich wohnte mitten in der Altstadt und war dadurch direkt im historischen Zentrum der Stadt unterwegs.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><div id=\"pg-30019-14\"  class=\"panel-grid zu sehen \u2013 dabei handelt es sich um den M\u00fchlenbach. Wer seinem Verlauf folgt, gelangt direkt zum Hafen.<\/p>\n<p>Auch der Turm der Marienkirche besteht aus Backstein. Nach ihr wurde auch die angrenzende Schweinsstra\u00dfe benannt.<\/p>\n<p>Besonders bei Touristinnen und Touristen beliebt sind die Schweinskulpturen auf der Br\u00fccke. Ich empfehle, die Unterkunftssuche in Wismar m\u00f6glichst fr\u00fchzeitig zu beginnen. Etwa zwei Monate vor meiner Reise fand ich weder ein kosteng\u00fcnstiges Hotel noch ein Hostel mit freien Zimmern. Die Hanse war ein Zusammenschluss von Handelsst\u00e4dten, die vor allem Hafenst\u00e4dte wie Wismar umfasste.<\/p>\n<p>Ziel der Hanse war es, die wirtschaftlichen Interessen ihrer Mitglieder zu f\u00f6rdern und Handelsprivilegien zu sichern. Die Hansest\u00e4dte profitierten von gemeinsamen Handelswegen, Schutz vor Piraterie und einer st\u00e4rkeren Verhandlungsposition gegen\u00fcber anderen M\u00e4chten.<\/p>\n<p>Weitere bedeutende und lauschte dem Gesang der V\u00f6gel. Genau so f\u00fchlt sich die Stadt an: offen, herzlich und voller Leben. Entsprechend gro\u00df war meine Vorfreude, als sich die Gelegenheit ergab, die Kegelrobben in der Wismarer Bucht beobachten zu d\u00fcrfen. Ich hatte das Gl\u00fcck, einen Platz auf der MS Seeb\u00e4r zu bekommen und an einer gef\u00fchrten Ausfahrt teilzunehmen.<\/p>\n<p>Doch schon w\u00e4hrend der Tour wurde mir klar: Dies w\u00fcrde fotografisch kein einfacher Tag werden. Die Entfernung zu den Tieren, das stetig schwankende Boot und die vielen anderen Naturbegeisterten an Bord machten das Fotografieren zur echten Herausforderung. Und ja \u2013 die ganz gro\u00dfen Bilder blieben diesmal aus.<\/p>\n<p>Aber das ist in Ordnung. Denn f\u00fcr mich steht immer eines im Vordergrund: Die Tiere nicht zu st\u00f6ren. Kein Foto der Welt ist es wert, in das Leben der Tiere einzugreifen. Bei meiner Tour waren die Pl\u00e4tze schnell vergeben \u2013 viele, die sp\u00e4ter kamen, mussten leider wieder umkehren. Der Treffpunkt befindet sich an Steg D der Wei\u00dfen Wiek in Boltenhagen (Ortsteil Tarnewitz).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><div id=\"pg-30019-41\"  class=\"panel-grid panel-no-style\" ><div id=\"pgc-30019-41-0\"  class=\"panel-grid-cell\" ><div id=\"panel-30019-41-0-0\" class=\"so-panel widget widget_sow-editor panel-first-child panel-last-child\" data-index=\"48\" ><div\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\tclass=\"so-widget-sow-editor so-widget-sow-editor-base\"\n\t\t\t\n\t\t>\n<div class=\"siteorigin-widget-tinymce textwidget\">\n\t<p>Langsam nahm die MS Seeb\u00e4r Kurs auf die Robbensandbank Lieps \u2013 ein beliebter Ruheplatz f\u00fcr Kegelrobben. Die flache Sandbank ist ein gesch\u00fctzter Ort mitten in der Wismarer Bucht und wird besonders gern von den gro\u00dfen Meeress\u00e4ugern aufgesucht. Mit etwas Gl\u00fcck lassen sich dort nicht nur Kegelrobben, sondern hin und wieder auch Seehunde beobachten.<\/p>\n<p>Schon auf dem Weg dorthin gab es einiges zu entdecken: Eine kleine Gruppe H\u00f6ckerschw\u00e4ne glitt majest\u00e4tisch \u00fcbers Wasser, w\u00e4hrend eine Silberm\u00f6we ruhig auf den Wellen trieb \u2013 ein friedlicher Auftakt zu unserer kleinen Reise in die Welt der Ostseetiere.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><div id=\"pg-30019-42\"  class=\"panel-grid panel-no-style\" ><div id=\"pgc-30019-42-0\"  class=\"panel-grid-cell\" ><div Und tats\u00e4chlich \u2013 dort lagen Robben, dicht aneinandergedr\u00e4ngt, ihre K\u00f6rper in der Sonne ruhend. Doch wie viele waren es? Und geh\u00f6rten sie alle zur gleichen Art? Waren es ausschlie\u00dflich Kegelrobben \u2013 oder hatten sich auch ein paar Seehunde dazugesellt?<\/p>\n<p>Meistens sind es die Kegelrobben, die auf der Sandbank Lieps in der \u00dcberzahl sind. Doch hin und wieder lassen sich auch Seehunde blicken. Wie viele Tiere man dort beobachten kann, variiert von Tag zu Tag. An Bord wurde es sp\u00fcrbar unruhiger \u2013 alle dr\u00e4ngten sich an die Reling, gespannt darauf, die Kegelrobben in ihrer nat\u00fcrlichen Umgebung zu beobachten. Zwar gibt es einige typische Erkennungsmerkmale, doch besonders auf dem Wasser oder aus der Ferne kann die Unterscheidung schwierig sein.<\/p>\n<p>Kegelrobben sind deutlich gr\u00f6\u00dfer als Seehunde: M\u00e4nnliche Kegelrobben k\u00f6nnen bis zu 2,50 Meter lang werden, w\u00e4hrend Seehunde eine maximale L\u00e4nge von etwa 1,60 Metern erreichen. Das auff\u00e4lligste Unterscheidungsmerkmal ist jedoch die Kopfform. Seehunde haben ein rundliches Gesicht, w\u00e4hrend die Kopfform der Kegelrobbe langgezogen und eher kantig wirkt. Vor allem bei Jungtieren f\u00e4llt es mir oft schwer, eine eindeutige Zuordnung zu treffen \u2013 sie \u00e4hneln sich in jungen Jahren teils sehr. Kegelrobben haben parallel angeordnete Nasenl\u00f6cher, w\u00e4hrend die Nasenl\u00f6cher der Seehunde ein deutliches V bilden.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><div id=\"pg-30019-55\"  class=\"panel-grid panel-no-style\" ><div id=\"pgc-30019-55-0\"  class=\"panel-grid-cell\" ><div id=\"panel-30019-55-0-0\" class=\"so-panel widget widget_sow-editor panel-first-child panel-last-child\" data-index=\"64\" ><div class=\"panel-widget-style panel-widget-style-for-30019-55-0-0\" ><div\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\tclass=\"so-widget-sow-editor so-widget-sow-editor-base\"\n\t\t\t\n\t\t>\n<div class=\"siteorigin-widget-tinymce textwidget\">\n\t<p>Ich hatte nicht nur ein Auge auf die Kegelrobben auf der Sandbank \u2013 auch im Wasser rund um das Boot war einiges los. Immer wieder tauchte pl\u00f6tzlich eine Robbe auf, schaute neugierig aus dem Wasser oder zog ruhig ihre Bahnen. Ich musste aufmerksam bleiben, um keine der Kegelrobben in der Wismarer Bucht zu \u00fcbersehen.<\/p>\n<p>Hast du schon einmal vom sogenannten \u201eBottling\u201c geh\u00f6rt? Dabei handelt es sich um eine typische Verhaltensweise der Kegelrobben: Sie lassen sich waagrecht im Wasser treiben, meist mit nur dem Kopf oder der Nase \u00fcber der Oberfl\u00e4che. Dabei wirken sie fast wie eine ruhig treibende Flasche \u2013 daher der Begriff \u201eBottling\u201c. Man vermutet sogar, dass sie in dieser Position manchmal d\u00f6sen oder schlafen.<\/p>\n<p>Ich selbst habe an diesem Tag leider keine Kegelrobben beim \u201eBottling\u201c beobachten k\u00f6nnen \u2013 aber einige sah ich schwimmen und neugierig aus dem Wasser schauen. Wie gro\u00df die Sandbank tats\u00e4chlich war, lie\u00df sich schwer erkennen, da Teile von ihr unter Wasser lagen. Das ist nur eine kleine Auswahl. Viele Zugv\u00f6gel nutzen die Wismarer Bucht auch als wichtiges Rastgebiet auf ihrem Weg in die Winterquartiere.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><div id=\"pg-30019-63\"  class=\"panel-grid panel-no-style\" ><div id=\"pgc-30019-63-0\"  class=\"panel-grid-cell\" ><div id=\"panel-30019-63-0-0\" class=\"so-panel widget widget_sow-editor panel-first-child panel-last-child\" data-index=\"72\" ><div class=\"panel-widget-style panel-widget-style-for-30019-63-0-0\" ><div\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\tclass=\"so-widget-sow-editor so-widget-sow-editor-base\"\n\t\t\t\n\t\t>\n<div class=\"siteorigin-widget-tinymce textwidget\">\n\t<p>Apropos Kormorane: So viele Kormorane auf der Sandbank sieht man nicht immer \u2013 vor allem nicht, wenn ein Seeadler in der N\u00e4he ist. Es soll schon vorgekommen sein, dass die Kormorane die Sandbank ganz verlassen, sobald ein Seeadler auftaucht. W\u00e4hrend der Bootsfahrt, an der ich teilnahm, war allerdings kein Seeadler unterwegs.<\/p>\n<p>Ganz in der N\u00e4he der Kormorangruppe hielt sich jedoch eine einzelne Kegelrobbe auf. Sie wirkte sehr entspannt und lie\u00df sich kaum st\u00f6ren.<\/p>\n<p>Wusstest du, dass Robben, wenn sie Kopf und Hinterflossen nach oben strecken, in der sogenannten \u201eBananenstellung\u201c sind? Ja, ich wusste das vorher auch nicht \u2013 aber es ist irgendwie logisch: In dieser Position sehen sie tats\u00e4chlich fast aus wie eine Banane. Diesmal konnten wir dort H\u00f6ckerschw\u00e4ne beobachten, die vorher noch nicht zu sehen waren. Auch schwamm hier und da eine Kegelrobbe im Wasser. Insgesamt schienen sich die Kegelrobben und die V\u00f6gel kaum gegenseitig zu st\u00f6ren.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><div id=\"pg-30019-66\"  class=\"panel-grid Fell aussah. Meist steckt einfach der j\u00e4hrliche Fellwechsel dahinter. Sowohl Kegelrobben als auch Seehunde erneuern ihr Fell einmal im Jahr. W\u00e4hrend dieser Zeit liegen sie an Land \u2013 oder wie die Kegelrobben in der Wismarer Bucht gem\u00fctlich auf der Sandbank Lieps.<\/p>\n<p>Jungtiere der Kegelrobben werden \u00fcbrigens mit einem wei\u00dfen, flauschigen Fell geboren \u2013 dem sogenannten Lanugofell. Es sieht zwar kuschelig aus, sch\u00fctzt die Jungtiere aber nicht vor K\u00e4lte im Wasser. Sie gelten als Nestfl\u00fcchter \u2013 werden aber in den ersten Tagen noch von ihrer Mutter ins Wasser gef\u00fchrt und begleitet, da sie weiterhin ges\u00e4ugt werden. Anders als die Kegelrobben-Jungtiere besitzen Seehunde von Anfang an ein wasserabweisendes Fell, das sie vor dem Ausk\u00fchlen sch\u00fctzt.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><div id=\"pg-30019-73\"  class=\"panel-grid panel-no-style\" ><div id=\"pgc-30019-73-0\"  class=\"panel-grid-cell\" ><div id=\"panel-30019-73-0-0\" class=\"so-panel widget widget_sow-editor panel-first-child panel-last-child\" data-index=\"83\" ><div class=\"panel-widget-style panel-widget-style-for-30019-73-0-0\" ><div\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\tclass=\"so-widget-sow-editor so-widget-sow-editor-base\"\n\t\t\t\n\t\t>\n<div class=\"siteorigin-widget-tinymce textwidget\">\n\t<p>Apropos Robbenbabys: In der Ostsee kommen die Jungtiere der Kegelrobbe erst im Februar zur Welt \u2013 deutlich sp\u00e4ter als in der Nordsee, wo die Geburtssaison beispielsweise auf Helgoland bereits im November beginnt. In der Ostsee suchen sich die Kegelrobben-Weibchen daf\u00fcr abgelegene Strandabschnitte, um dort ein einzelnes Jungtier zur Welt zu bringen.<\/p>\n<p>Die S\u00e4ugezeit dauert etwa zwei bis drei Wochen, danach verl\u00e4sst die Mutter ihr Jungtier. Dieses bleibt noch weitere zwei Wochen am Strand, wechselt in dieser Zeit sein Lanugofell und beginnt schlie\u00dflich, die Ostsee auf eigene Faust zu erkunden \u2013 oder legt sich einfach mal zum Ausruhen an den Strand.<\/p>\n<p>W\u00e4hrend meiner Zeit in und um Wismar habe ich allerdings keine Robbe am Strand gesehen. So wird sichergestellt, dass das Tier fachgerecht beobachtet und gegebenenfalls gesch\u00fctzt werden kann.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><div id=\"pg-30019-76\"  class=\"panel-grid panel-no-style\" ><div id=\"pgc-30019-76-0\"  class=\"panel-grid-cell\" ><div id=\"panel-30019-76-0-0\" class=\"so-panel widget widget_sow-editor panel-first-child panel-last-child\" data-index=\"86\" ><div class=\"panel-widget-style panel-widget-style-for-30019-76-0-0\" ><div\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\tclass=\"so-widget-sow-editor so-widget-sow-editor-base\"\n\t\t\t\n\t\t>\n<div class=\"siteorigin-widget-tinymce textwidget\">\n\t<p>Interessant ist auch, dass der BUND Kl\u00fctzer Winkel seit 2024 mit der wissenschaftlichen Methode der sogenannten Foto-Identifikation arbeitet. Dabei werden zahlreiche Fotos von den Fellmustern der Kegelrobben gemacht, denn jedes Tier tr\u00e4gt ein individuelles Muster \u2013 vergleichbar mit einem menschlichen Fingerabdruck.<\/p>\n<p>Anhand dieser Bilder lassen sich einzelne Robben wiedererkennen, sogar nach Jahren. So kann festgestellt werden, welche Kegelrobben in der Wismarer Bucht dauerhaft oder regelm\u00e4\u00dfig vorkommen \u2013 und ob neue Tiere dazukommen. Jahrhunderts fast vollst\u00e4ndig von unseren K\u00fcsten verschwunden waren? Intensive Bejagung und starke Wasserverschmutzung hatten sie fast ausgerottet. Erst seit den 1990er-Jahren, mit einem strengen Jagdverbot und sp\u00fcrbaren Verbesserungen der Wasserqualit\u00e4t durch zahlreiche Schutzma\u00dfnahmen, kehren sie langsam zur\u00fcck.<\/p>\n<p>Laut einer Information auf dem Instagram-Profil des BUND Kl\u00fctzer Winkel leben heute dauerhaft etwa 200 Kegelrobben in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Diese Fotos sind schwer zu ertragen, zeigen aber deutlich, wie Plastikm\u00fcll, Fischernetze oder Angelsehnen den Hals der Tiere einschn\u00fcren k\u00f6nnen. Besonders f\u00fcr junge Kegelrobben ist das lebensgef\u00e4hrlich, da sie noch wachsen \u2013 solche Einschn\u00fcrungen k\u00f6nnen sogar zum Erstickungstod f\u00fchren.<\/p>\n<p>Ein wichtiger Tipp vom BUND: Beim Spielen mit Hunden lieber Wurfscheiben statt Wurfringe verwenden. Denn Wurfringe k\u00f6nnen sich um den Hals einer Kegelrobbe legen und gef\u00e4hrlich einschn\u00fcren.<\/p>\n<p>Solltest du mal eine Kegelrobbe am Strand sehen, beachte bitte folgende Regeln laut BUND:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Halte mindestens 100 Meter Abstand zu den Robben<\/li>\n<li>Versperre niemals den Fluchtweg ins Meer<\/li>\n<li>F\u00fcttere oder ber\u00fchre die Robben nicht<\/li>\n<li>Halte Hunde an der Leine<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Eine Robbensichtung kannst du dem BUND-Robbentelefon (0152-37969472) oder dem Deutschen Meeresmuseum (0173-9688267) melden. Der Einstieg ist leider nicht barrierefrei, und Kinderwagen, Bollerwagen oder Fahrr\u00e4der k\u00f6nnen aus Platzgr\u00fcnden auch nicht mit an Bord genommen werden.<\/p>\n<p>Es d\u00fcrfen maximal 50 Personen mitfahren, damit die Fahrt nicht nur sicher, sondern auch angenehm bleibt. Da es keine M\u00f6glichkeit f\u00fcr Reservierungen gibt, solltest du mindestens eine Stunde vor Abfahrt da sein. So hatte ich nicht nur die M\u00f6glichkeit, die sch\u00f6ne Stadt zu erkunden, sondern auch die andere Seite der Wismarer Bucht \u2013 die Insel Poel \u2013 zu entdecken. Wismar ist dank der Deutschen Bahn sehr gut erreichbar, und der Bahnhof liegt zentral, sodass meine Unterkunft ganz in der N\u00e4he der Nikolaikirche lag und bequem zu Fu\u00df erreichbar war.<\/p>\n<p>Die Bootstour startete in Boltenhagen, das sich wunderbar mit dem Fahrrad erreichen l\u00e4sst. Da es rund um Wismar viele gut ausgebaute Fahrradwege gibt, war das f\u00fcr mich die perfekte Art, mobil zu sein und die Region flexibel zu erkunden.<\/p>\n<p>Was die Unterkunft betrifft, m\u00f6chte ich keine konkrete Empfehlung aussprechen, denn hier gibt es zahlreiche M\u00f6glichkeiten \u2013 vom Hotel \u00fcber Pensionen bis zu privaten Unterk\u00fcnften \u2013 und jeder hat unterschiedliche Vorlieben.
